The 2026 Summer program dates are May 18 th – July 24 th at our company facilities in Lakeland, FL. Over these 10 weeks, interns will work 40 hours a week participating in impactful departmental projects that connect classroom learning to real-world corporate experience. Position Overview The Corporate Counsel department provides reporting, trend analysis, peer guidance and a practical playbook to help counsels succeed in their high stakes. During the first half of the internship, the intern will work in the Employment Law and Investigations department Conducts investigations for complaints that associates lodge internally (Discharge Reviews, Formal Complaints) and externally (Charges of Discrimination, Attorney Demand Letters, and Lawsuits). During each investigation, we consider the legal merits as well as compliance with Publix’s Mission Statement, which is dedicated to the dignity, value, and employment security of our associates. During the second half of the internship, the intern will work in other areas of Corporate Counsel.

Requirements

• must be an actively enrolled student not graduating prior to the start of the Summer Internship Program in May
• must be pursuing a
• must be pursuing a Juris Doctorate degree and completed 1L and entering 2L year
• basic knowledge of MS Word, Power Point, Excel
• strong written and analytical problem-solving skills
• strong interpersonal and communication skills
• strong organizational skills to complete assignments in a timely manner
• high level of maturity, judgement, and tact
• valid driver’s license
• willingness to work long hours at times and travel when needed

Responsibilities

• investigating and analyzing complaints from associates stemming from Publix’s internal processes, discharge resolution, and formal complaint procedure
• drafting reports at the conclusion of investigations
• representing Publix at unemployment compensation hearings
• assisting in-house counsel, management, and Employment Law Investigators with various tasks
