About The Position

As our Controls Engineering, Intern , you will gain hands-on experience supporting the development and validation of power plant control (PPC) systems. You will assist in developing the PSCAD model for the BroadView PPC Controller, create models suitable for use in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulators, and develop test cases to evaluate controller performance. Additionally, you will conduct simulation testing and validation of control functions to ensure system reliability and alignment with project requirements. This internship provides valuable exposure to advanced power system modeling, control logic testing, and real-world applications in renewable energy integration. This internship opportunity is based in Houston, TX, and spans three months, from January 5, 2026 to May 29, 2026. You will report to the Controls Engineering Director. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s of Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field with relevant courses in Power System Engineering
  • knowledge of how to use PSCAD for power system models
  • Experience with programming languages such as CodeSys, MATLAB, Simulink, or Python
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of tasks
  • available to work 20–30 hours per week, with two in-office days per week for the part-time (20-hour) schedule
  • enrolled students in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester
  • willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
