About The Position

The Applied Sciences Laboratory at SRI International is seeking an Intern to engage in research and development focused on the mathematics of generative AI models, scalable graph analysis methods, and network sciences. This role supports a new computational and mathematical sciences team dedicated to developing innovative algorithms for various applications, including supply chain networks and optimization of generative AI models. The intern will contribute to research publication efforts and assist in commercializing technologies through patents and start-ups.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering with a focus on computational sciences or a related area.
  • Experience in algorithm development associated with artificial intelligence and graph theory.
  • Some publications in relevant fields.

Responsibilities

  • Training generative AI models
  • Fine tuning LLMs
  • Designing and implementing distributed algorithms for large graphs
  • Assist in developing research ideas
  • Instantiate the approaches in prototype software
  • Lead the experimental evaluation of these ideas, compile results, and communicate the results in presentations.
