Requirements

  • Pursuing an engineering degree with focus in the fields of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical, electrical, materials engineering, as well as familiarity with experimentation and data analysis
  • Composites experience
  • Experience with superconductors and/or the technology that surrounds them; high vacuum, cryogenics, high power systems
  • Demonstration of exceptional results through a range of different pursuits
  • High self-motivation and drive to execute quickly with excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, and cryogenics

Responsibilities

  • Testing that retires risks for CFS's HTS magnets and magnet components
  • Create test articles from existing designs, and then define tests to validate critical requirements
