Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Intern / Co-Op – Environmental Engineer or Geologist, or Hydrogeologist in our Columbia, Maryland office. The position offers the opportunity to apply engineering academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) for approximately 13 to 15 weeks during the summer of 2026 . Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office. Relocation and housing is not provided for this position. Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree program in a relevant geological or environmental science, or related engineering discipline. (required)
• Degree focus area environmental engineering, geology, or related engineering or scientific discipline.
• A high interest in working on geological, environmental restoration, and cleanup projects. (required)
• Valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites. (required)

Nice To Haves

• Experience with ArcView, CADD, and/or Microsoft Office.
• Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducting fieldwork (up to 50%) such as soil and groundwater sampling and drilling and contractor oversight following training;
• Assisting with engineering calculations, design, and/or research;
• Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
• Data management and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
• Following instructions and interacting with engineers, scientists, office administrative staff, CADD operators, contractors and construction personnel; and
• Local travel to project sites as needed
• Obtain a 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training.
