About The Position

As Co-op or intern you will support engineers on a variety of electric infrastructure projects designing future state distribution and transmission power systems. You will develop unique solutions to gather, store, and utilize electrical asset data implemented and collected in the field to improve data-driven decision making. Your responsibilities will include creating and maintaining electrical models using power flow software such as PSSE and CYME, creating scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for assigned projects engaging engineering and other SMEs as required. You will work with AES engineering and finance teams to build the project business cases using financial modeling tools and validate project financial data submitted to the annual budget review process. Additionally, you will manage the budget for assigned T&D annual investment programs and utilize Management of Change and Asset Governance processes for controlling the modification of equipment, systems, and processes. You will participate in root cause analyses (RCAs) for significant T&D equipment failures and support development and updates to Asset Life Cycle Plans (ALCP) for critical asset classes. This role requires working in an Agile, collaborative environment partnering with technicians, engineers, regulatory experts, and businesspeople of all backgrounds and disciplines to solve complex problems. You will attend site visits to substations or other engineering sites to verify electric facilities through field research and learn about complex T&D systems. Furthermore, you will participate in formalized AES-specific learning opportunities to further your knowledge and understanding towards accelerating the responsible energy transition, network with peers, AES leaders, and other like-minded employees in dedicated events, lunch and learns, and speaker series. You will use industry-leading software to study potential problems on the electrical grid and proactively propose solutions, and actively engage in open discussions to identify ways the company can improve to be better prepared for the future of the energy world.
