About The Position

The Engineering Intern/Co-op Program at Domtar Ashdown mill is designed for college sophomores, juniors, and seniors focusing on Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. Interns will engage in sophisticated project assignments, gaining hands-on experience in the Pulp and Paper industry while working closely with senior leadership and mentors. This program aims to prepare students for potential Associate Engineering roles upon graduation, with opportunities for career advancement in various operational areas.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior in an accredited degree program in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Technical writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills.
  • CAD experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on improving the quality control of finished products by proactively identifying potential problems and troubleshooting issues.
  • Analyze production costs and productivity issues, providing quality control improvement solutions.
  • Gain technical exposure to various production and support units within the electrical and mechanical teams.
  • Research and develop processes and guidelines for various operational units within the facility.
  • Document findings in various systems and decipher data to apply findings into project recommendations.
  • Draft and document maintenance activities and capital installations.
  • Design and estimate small projects under supervision.
  • Advise and support contractors and maintenance personnel in the field.
