As an intern, you will receive on-the-job training related to the dynamics of the petroleum industry, the specifics of your job assignment, and the use of various software programs. Accounting interns are placed in various areas including Audit Assurance & Advisory Services, General Accounting, Joint Venture Accounting, Operations Accounting, Property Accounting, and Tax Accounting. Specific duties may include analyzing and processing business documents, preparing financial statement journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, tax information preparation, testing SOX and Non-SOX controls in auditing, and assisting in budget preparation. As you progress in your career, additional responsibilities will include more complex accounting activities and mentoring less experienced accountants. The Controller's Organization is committed to developing accountants by providing them experience in as many areas of the business as practical.

Requirements

  • Required Major: Accounting.
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship.
  • Concurrent enrollment in a bachelor's degree (or higher) seeking program for the duration of the experience.
  • Must provide reliable transportation to and from the place of work.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week.
