About The Position

We're looking for motivated students to be part of a dynamic 11-week paid internship where you'll work on impactful projects and gain real-world experience, all while supporting our mission to improve health and improve lives. As a Labcorp intern, you'll be immersed in hands-on work that complements your academic background. In addition to your project work, you'll gain valuable exposure to Labcorp's global business, culture, and leadership through enterprise-wide learning experiences, leadership exposure, and visibility, including direct interaction with senior leaders. You'll also participate in an immersive, in-person intern event designed to connect you with peers and deepen your understanding of our mission.

Requirements

  • Working towards bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (preferred) or biology, biochemistry, microbiology or studying in a program/major that requires a minimum of 48 credit hours of biology and chemistry classes (preferred).
  • Expressed desire and interest to work in a laboratory as a technologist after completing an undergraduate degree.
  • Has experience delivering multiple projects in an academic or professional setting.
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and internal/external colleagues.
  • Embraces diverse ways of thinking through various forms collaboration and partnership.
  • Must be able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast paced, high-volume environment and while prioritizing and manage multiple tasks.
  • Able to work independently under general supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, receives and processes all specimens received into the department so that they are ready for analysis.
  • Archives and stores specimens post analysis.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory in laboratory areas.
  • Centrifuge and receive specimens.
  • Make any necessary aliquots.
  • Remove any clots/fibrin from specimens.
  • Archive and retrieve specimens as needed from storage.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.
  • Perform centrifuge and refrigerator/freezer maintenance as assigned.
  • Clean and sanitize workspace and restock supplies daily.
  • Assist technologists as required.
  • Engage in professional development workshops to enhance your business acumen and professional presence.
  • Attend training sessions to learn universal tools linked to MySQL database development.
  • Assist with maintaining and filing lab records.
  • Assist with completing pending logs.
  • Attend all required EHS training.
  • Wear appropriate PPE as required.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, LabCorp policies/procedures and the requirements of accrediting organizations.
  • Conduct work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
