About The Position

Cytokinetics is a specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company, building on its over 25 years of pioneering scientific innovations in muscle biology, and advancing a pipeline of potential new medicines for patients suffering from diseases of cardiac muscle dysfunction. The Statistical Programming internship is designed to give students a real look at how Statistical Programming and the Clinical Biometrics teams play a pivotal role in the drug approval process within the Biotech industry. Interns will work across Statistical Programming, Biostatistics, and Data Management teams to support ongoing projects specifically geared towards statistical analysis, clinical programming, and data visualization by leveraging their strong analytical skills and programming experience in SAS, R and/or Python. The experience is meant to be hands-on, collaborative, and developmental, with exposure to the key role that Statistical Programming plays within the organization. Statistical Programming: Learn and apply statistical programming concepts using SAS, R, and/or Python in real-world data projects Explore use of AI-assisted tools to support code development, documentation, and review Assist with data preparation, analysis, and visualization under mentorship from experienced programmers Participate in quality review and documentation activities to understand data integrity principles Develop understanding of industry best practices, data standards, and regulatory submission Develop understanding of use of GitHub and similar repositories Data Management: Collaborate with Data Management to understand the data capture process and their role within the organization. Work closely with Data Management to gain knowledge on how the data visualization and reporting tools are utilized in their role. Clinical Operations: Collaborate with Clinical Operations team to understand the role their team plays during the clinical trial process. Work closely with clinical operations personnel to understand their requirements during the implementation of AI related tools in the application development and data visualization. Biostatistics: Collaborate with Biostatisticians to understand their role and the statistical principles that will be applied during statistical programming and data visualization. Work closely with statisticians to understand their requirements during the implementation of AI related tools for application development, data reporting and visualization. Gain exposure to Statistical principles and various modeling techniques used for programming and data visualization.

Requirements

  • The position requires a motivated individual with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Major in Data Science, Biostatistics / Statistics, or Computer Science
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot problems with team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with R, Python, GitHub and machine learning knowledge would be preferred.
