About The Position

HF Sinclair is seeking a Business Analytics (Branded Fuels) Intern for summer 2026 located in Dallas, TX. This intern will operate under close and frequent supervision while aiding the Branded Product Marketing organization with business analysis (operational and financial), preparing market analyses, and assisting with other reporting assignments for our Sales team, Operations, Brand, and Product Pricing departments.

Requirements

  • Some completed courses needed for a bachelor's degree in business or computer science are required.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to effectively communicate with strong verbal communication skills, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills; good interpersonal skills; proficient and demonstrated ability working with spreadsheets, word processing and database applications; ability to identify discrepancies and determine alternative courses of action.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft products, PowerPoint in particular.
  • Ability to perform intermediate level mathematical calculations.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with monthly Operational Analysis of business for Monthly Scorecard
  • Key Performance Indicators - drivers for volume (consumer demand (national/regional vehicle miles traveled, consumer retail gas station site visits, weather events, etc.), refinery performance), pricing environment, identify distributor discrepancies, highlight discounts or pricing outliers
  • Assists with reviewing and/or auditing branded retail station project economics- assessing if the correct assumptions were used for branding retail gas stations based off project economic assumptions submitted.
  • Validating site volume performance, assess loyalty program usage (% DINOPAY transactions, DINOPAY SG&A cpg), % product grade (Unleaded Gasoline, Midgrade Gasoline, Premium Gasoline, Diesel), ratio of deals done with Distributor/site packages and overall conversion of sites from prospect to branded, credit card processing margin, use of capital, product margin, lead time for branding and contractor feedback, etc.
  • ROI on Marketing Investments by region
  • Assists with analyzing Premium Fuel Market - identify our biggest opportunities, how do our competitors perform in this space
  • Assists with identifying top distributor qualities - come up with set of metrics to rank distributors
  • Quantitative: Meeting contract requirements, growth in site count, discounts offered to them, capital requirement/structure, quality of sites/secret shopper scores, AR turnover metrics, etc.
  • Assists with creation of Regional KPI's - benchmark opportunities against what we consider 'good' for that region
  • Average retail gas station site throughput, site size (# of pumps), attrition rate, NTB rate, NTI rate, avg. secret shopper score
  • Assist with management reports that utilize data visualization (Power BI) to showcase key performance indicators for effective and timely decision making.
  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
