About The Position

The Finance department at Publix is seeking a Financial Reporting intern to provide support with accounting research and contribute to a range of financial reporting activities. The Financial Reporting team manages the general ledger close process, prepares financial statements, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and oversees the Company’s internal and external financial reporting. In this internship, you will work alongside seasoned professionals gaining valuable experience researching accounting standards and supporting both internal and external financial reporting tasks.

Requirements

must be an actively enrolled student not graduating prior to the start of the Summer Internship Program in May; or if graduating from a bachelor's degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a master’s degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester; or if graduating from a master’s degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester)
must be pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in accounting and be a current sophomore or above (rising junior or above as of the program start in Summer 2026) or graduate student.
basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet/E-mail.
ability to work a flexible 40 hours work week.

Responsibilities

assist the financial reporting team with researching the disclosure requirements under the new financial accounting standard for disaggregation of income statement expenses (i.e., DISE)
analyze best disclosure practices
document findings and draft recommended footnote disclosure
complete various tasks in the reporting of the company’s second quarter financial results.
