About The Position

Project Harmony currently supports students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Human Services or related program. An internship/practicum with Project Harmony is a unique opportunity for students with an interest in child welfare, child mental health and working with families. Participating departments include Children's Services - Family Advocacy and Mental Health Therapist Team (response), and the Connections Program (prevention). Students accepted into internship/practicum placements can expect to attain these outcomes: An understanding of the mission and function of Child Advocacy Centers, Understanding of the criminal justice process and child welfare system, Understanding of the effects of trauma on children and families and how the CAC responds, How to work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, Understanding of the various Multi-Disciplinary Teams and observe how they function, How to create and sustain good practices for self-care, to offset the potential harm of secondary traumatic stress.
