This position is for a graduate intern who will contribute to development of long-read sequencing data analysis, focusing on variant identification and reporting. This role will involve hands-on work with existing workflows (using Nextflow), data analysis, and collaboration with the software team to optimize and scale analyses. The intern will facilitate efficient processing of large-scale genomic datasets, contributing to advancements in data analysis. This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in bioinformatics in a cutting-edge research environment.

  • Modify and execute existing pipelines for long-read sequencing data analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to pipeline execution and performance.
  • Work closely with the software team to integrate and improve existing pipelines.
  • Document pipeline workflows, analysis results, and best practices.
  • Present findings and progress updates to the team.
  • Contribute to the creation of user documentation.
  • Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a graduate-level degree in a field relevant to the internship.
  • Must be able to work full-time during the duration of the internship program.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Proficiency in Nextflow workflow development and execution.
  • Strong command-line skills and experience with Linux/Unix environments.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with long-read sequencing data analysis (Oxford Nanopore Technologies).
  • Understanding of genomics and bioinformatics principles.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
