About The Position

A Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Intern will be given the opportunity to work with a vertically integrated company and experience multiple aspects of HMA plant management as well as other lines of business.

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Construction Management or Operations Management from a college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and assist in winter maintenance projects including assessment, design, fabrication, and installation at various HMA facilities.
  • Learn and assist in winter maintenance cost tracking.
  • Learn and assist in general maintenance of HMA facilities as needed.
  • Learn and assist in the evaluation of existing facilities for future capital projects.
  • Learn and assist in development and overhaul of new lock out/tag out procedures for HMA facilities.
  • Learn and assist in evaluation of ARC flash studies for possible mitigation.
  • Learn and assist in operation of HMA facilities as needed.
  • Learn operation requirements of Front End Loader and Skid Steer through hands-on experience.
