Ayar Labs, the global leader in optical I/O chiplets, is harnessing silicon photonics to revolutionize the scaling of AI compute hardware. Our architecture team is a key contributor in defining the value of optical I/O technology in AI hardware, through pioneering analyses of leading advanced AI models, hardware and resource requirements for training and inference operations, and the performance gains unlocked by optical I/O. We are looking for a motivated undergraduate or graduate intern to join our architecture team within the Office of the CTO. The projects are tailored to your experience and interests, and you will be mentored by a senior engineer as you work alongside with Ayar Labs engineers to help drive the optical I/O revolution.

  • Deploy inference workloads on data center clusters and benchmark the performance.
  • Collaborate on the design of large-scale AI compute clusters with Ayar Labs’ in-package silicon photonic technology.
  • Actively pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent.
  • Familiar with network topologies such as TOR-Leaf-Spine, folded Clos, HyperX, Torus, Dragonfly, etc.
  • Strong programming skills in Python; familiar with a network simulator such as gem5 or BookSim is a strong plus
  • Experience in deploying AI workloads on different data center platforms and benchmarking the performance
  • The ideal candidate is an independent and highly-motivated student who is able to work collaboratively and independently, and can self-manage time effectively to take projects to completion
