Your Role in Synergy's Success The Analytical Chemistry Intern’s primary responsibility will be to support analytical testing of volatile components in foods, beverages, flavors, extracts, and essences. The role will also assist in the development and validation of analytical methods used for this testing. The intern will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including Research & Development, Quality Control, and Operations, providing broad exposure to the product development and testing workflow. A foundational knowledge of laboratory and analytical concepts gained through coursework in chemistry, food science, or a related discipline is required.

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a BS degree in Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline
  • Previous laboratory coursework or hands‑on lab experience (academic or industry); prior exposure to analytical instrumentation such as GC‑FID/MS is a plus
  • Basic understanding of laboratory terminology, analytical equipment, and scientific methodology
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and willingness to learn new technical skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and contribute to multiple tasks or projects as needed
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and accuracy in experimental work
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical testing of volatile compounds under supervision using techniques such as GC‑FID/MS
  • Assist in the development, optimization, and validation of analytical test methods
  • Conduct laboratory experiments following established procedures and guidance from the manager or mentor
  • Compile, organize, and analyze experimental data
  • Prepare summaries and contribute to technical reports as needed
  • Communicate findings to the R&D team and other stakeholders in a clear, concise manner
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, materials, methods, and results
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and good laboratory practices (GLP)
