This position offers an opportunity to engage with the Institute and its wide network during the reimagining of its work in Africa, offering the right candidate a unique opportunity to support strategy development while interacting with scholars and leaders from across African markets and beyond.

Requirements

  • Strong preference for candidates holding (or currently completing) a Masters degree in a relevant field – finance, international economics, MBA, or similar.
  • Must have exceptional written and communication skills, with ability to juggle concurrent projects and responsibilities in an organized and responsive manner, adhering to time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial initiative to work independently and collaboratively, within the Africa team or across departments at the Institute, with the perspective that “no task is too small.” Able to lead appropriate projects with direction with internal and external partners.
  • Have a keen eye to detail, especially when handling sensitive or personal information.
  • Thoughtful, people-oriented, and culturally competent candidate strongly preferred, with keen interest in building relationships with Global Financial Scholars program scholars and alumni and with members of our Africa Leadership Council, both in person and remotely.

Nice To Haves

  • Showcased interest in working with developing and emerging economies (especially in Africa); having an understanding of key topics in economics and finance in Africa would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience with project management software and databases a plus, such as Salesforce, Microsoft 365, etc.
  • Experience with or interest in international education and alumni affairs at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Experience with event management and/ or proposal writing and business development.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting project management and note-taking for both Global Financial Scholars Programs (the IFC-Milken Institute Capital Markets Program and World Bank-Milken Institute Public Financial Asset Management Program) during the scholar interview and recruitment process in Spring 2026
  • Supporting liaising with external partners and organizations for both Global Financial Scholars Programs during the scholar internship matching process in Fall 2026, including communicating with prospective internship providers, scheduling internship interviews, securing internship offer letters for the scholars, and generally troubleshooting logistics, big and small, around these programs.
  • Coordinating online and in-person meeting management (meeting links, sending reminders to attendees, etc.) for both US and UK cohorts of Scholars, as well as for African Leadership Council members and prospects and the Africa team more broadly as needed.
  • Assisting with business development and data management functions, including organizing data, researching prospects, and supporting proposal development.
  • Supporting logistics and programming for MI International Africa events as the need arises (to include core MI summits as well as side events such as the World Bank – IMF Spring Meetings or the United Nations General Assembly; as well as online events such as webinars with alumni of our Scholars Programs, with members of our Africa Leadership Council, etc.) There will also be the opportunity to contribute to research and content development, and to collaborate with external speakers and companies around these events.
  • Providing general support to the MI International-Africa team and other company-wide priorities, as the need arises (such as organizing panel prep materials, conducting prospect research and briefings, and supporting MI International senior leadership and the MI Africa Chair as directed).
  • Duties as assigned.
