About The Position

Bloomsbury is seeking a Spring Editorial Intern for its Adult Trade team. The intern will assist our close knit team of editors in the publication of both literary/upmarket fiction and general nonfiction. Please note that interns will not be working with Sarah J. Maas titles nor YA/Children’s books . Bloomsbury is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and we encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply. No prior publishing experience is required, though a demonstrated interest in the published process is key.

Requirements

  • High level of familiarity with Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Firm grasp of grammar and spelling, with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Strong communication skills suitable for a fast-paced, professional environment
  • Detail-oriented, able to manage their own time, and highly organized
  • Demonstrable interest in contemporary literature and publishing
  • Candidates must reside in the NY tri-state area, and be able to work in person at our midtown Manhattan office 2 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly reading, evaluating, and discussing manuscripts and proposals (both fiction and nonfiction)
  • Attending editorial meetings, season launches, check-ins, and other meetings as necessary
  • Leading our literary award submission process
  • Conducting research and contributing to metadata
  • Assisting, as needed, with mailings, copyright processes, and drafting of materials
  • Other duties as assigned
