About The Position

Assists the ADA Services Department in activities related to NTD reporting requirements, self-evaluation, and assessment of system-wide accessibility related to built facilities used in the provision of services. Paid internship, maximum of 20 hours a week.

Requirements

Beginning knowledge of community relations, urban design, accessibility
Ability to assimilate narrative information into quantifiable data.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Works effectively with co-workers, clients, customers, and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner.
Keeps others informed of work progress, timetables, and issues.
Addresses problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions.
Ability to read and understand technical standards (drawings, specifications) and other related materials.
Experience in using a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.
Ability to navigate facilities and utilize necessary tools, to complete required survey activities.

Responsibilities

Assists in the assessment, measurement, and recording of accessibility features associated with Metro platforms, facilities, and transit centers.
Assists in maintaining database of survey findings.
Assists in the development of survey inventory procedures and identifies needed equipment and materials.
Supports future completion of NTD reporting by collecting, sorting, classifying, and recording of reviewed facility features.
Photographs field activities and accessibility features that require alteration or replacement for future reference.
Develops thorough understanding of Section 810 Transportation Facility Requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Standards and other applicable requirements in the Department of Transportation Standards.
Communicates work activities with project team members and assists in identifying/resolving potential schedule impacts.
Assists in communicating findings to internal and community stakeholders for analysis and feedback to determine course of remediations/alterations as necessary.
Complies with safety and other compliance obligations.
