Visit our nearby power plants: Grand Ridge Energy Center and Nelson Energy Center Spend a day giving back to the community with our ‘Volunteer Time Off’ program Have lunch with our CEO and Founder, Michael Polsky Attend various networking events put on by Invenergy Explore Chicago with your fellow interns Our program takes place from the end of May/early June – August lasting for 10- 12 weeks ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP Applicants will be considered for internships across our accounting department . Our accounting interns will be selected to join one of the following accounting teams: Operations Accounting: As an Operations Accou nting Inter n , you will participate in the day-to-day a ccounting functio ns of approximately 1-2 operational energy power production plants. You will also research intercompany transactions, prepare quarterly financials, and conduct internal audits of accounting processes and procedures. Construction Accounting: As a Construction Accounting Intern, you will participate in development accounting including project cost tracking and reporting, processing of project A/P, and construction draw processing.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program with an expected graduation date between Fall 2026 and Summer 2027
  • Majoring in Finance or Accounting
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Demonstrated i nterest in the renewable energy or clean energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with c losing the books and maintaining records of all accounting entities related to assigned plants
  • P articipating in the preparation and review of financial statements, including all monthly journal entries, to verify account balances for accuracy and reasonableness
  • Prepar ing project workbooks to support balance sheet and income statement balances and activity.
  • Ensuring accuracy of all general ledger information
  • Assisting with the coordination of project treasury, banking, and cash flow analysis, including project cash reconciliation
  • Coordinating and communicat ing project issues with asset managers, project managers, and finance professionals
  • Participating in cash planning meetings for development pipeline projects
  • Assisting with the preparation of various financial & tax supporting schedules
  • Assist ing with the support of the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statement schedules, annual compilation of footnotes, miscellaneous financial reporting requests, and annual audits
  • Working routinely with Project Managers, Development, Finance, and Treasury on a variety of job-related topics including insurance and contract agreements
  • Assist ing with coordination of project treasury, banking and cash flow analysis
