About The Position

The Intermodal Service Employee (ISE) plays a crucial role in the safe handling and movement of customer freight within the CSX Intermodal Terminal network. This position involves various responsibilities including securement of freight, operating heavy machinery, and performing clerical tasks to ensure efficient operations. The ISE is expected to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment, contributing to customer service and productivity targets.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Driver's License is required.
• Ability to work positively in a team environment and contribute to customer service goals.
• Physical agility to perform tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, and walking long distances over uneven terrain.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience working in a heavy industrial environment.
• One year of experience operating heavy machinery.
• Three years of outdoor work experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform securement tasks including ascending and descending rail cars, inspecting and securing trailers, containers, and intermodal flatcars.
• Assist lift operators in the proper positioning of equipment and operate powered vehicles known as IBC carts.
• Conduct yard and lift operations by moving equipment on the terminal and operating lift machines to load and unload trailers and containers.
• Connect, move, and park chassis, trailers, and containers on terminal property, ensuring operational readiness through inspection.
• Utilize Microsoft Office systems and other computer systems for clerical duties related to intermodal car and equipment management.
• Respond to minor spills and maintain knowledge of hazmat requirements.
• Inspect and apply end-of-train devices and perform airbrake tests as necessary.
