The Intermodal Dispatcher at Magana Transport LLC is responsible for efficiently scheduling and coordinating workloads for drivers in a fast-paced logistics environment. This role requires a solid understanding of intermodal drayage, effective communication with customer service representatives, and the ability to manage a high volume of calls and emails. The dispatcher will also focus on driver retention, operational excellence, and cost management to enhance profitability while ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Efficiently schedule and coordinate workload for the drivers.
  • Have a solid understanding of intermodal drayage (Port and Terminals).
  • Problem solve and handle challenges faced throughout the day.
  • Clearly communicate with customer service representatives requesting updates on driver statuses.
  • Manage large volumes of calls and emails regarding daily operations.
  • Achieve driver retention by ensuring driver success while maintaining strong relationships with independent contractors and employee drivers.
  • Promote a culture of Operational Excellence focused on safety and customer service.
  • Execute daily workload while ensuring customer requirements are met to achieve the best service possible.
  • Track and manage all equipment currently under dispatch to ensure proper utilization.
  • Openly communicate challenges/opportunities as they arise along with creative solutions to overcome.
  • Manage cost with a focus to increase profitability of the terminal as well as minimizing cost to our customers.
  • Regular oversight to Independent Contractors HOS, prior to dispatching.
  • 3 years experience dispatching in a drayage and/or Intermodal environment.
  • Overall proficiency in English and Spanish is a must.
  • Knowledge of the geography in and around Houston, the ports, rails, and container depots is required.
  • Must have an excellent working understanding of rail and port procedures.
  • Knowledge of geographic locations and the ability to calculate time and distance.
  • Working knowledge of a basic dispatch system, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with internal employees / drivers and external customers.
