Your Opportunity Stantec’s Mining Practice is hiring an experienced Surface Intermediate Mining Engineer to join their growing team in Western US (based in one of our many Western US offices, hybrid, or remote) position The successful candidate will execute mining engineering and related projects for mining studies/projects of varying size and complexity, and at various project stages from initial concepts through to execution This person may be required to work on several projects at a time. Our projects are focused on many different commodities including metals, aggregates, and industrial minerals. Experience in metallic minerals is a plus and should be highlighted in your application. Your Key Responsibilities Work with clients to deliver safe, responsible, and innovative solutions. Work with geologists, geotechnical engineers, and civil engineers to help design mine access, determine mining methods, mine development, and mine infrastructure. Prepare mine development and production plans and schedules. Estimate performance productivities and support the preparation of capital and operating costs. Use of mining software programs such as MineSight 3D, Deswik, Minemax, Vulcan, Carlson or similar packages to complete technical assignments Attend meetings and interface with clients, external consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, and/or vendors. Participate in technical reviews. Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers. Supports the development of standards and specifications for the mining group. Prepare technical reports. Support business development efforts and proposal preparation. International or national travel can be expected with the possibility of extended stays.
