The role focuses on building strong relationships with scholars, supporting their individual needs, and collaborating closely with families and team members to ensure a strong educational foundation.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Nebraska teaching certificate.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team-based educational environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with parents as key resources in the learning process.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to support diverse learner needs.
  • Experience working with both small and large student groups in an elementary setting.
  • Experience in an elementary or early childhood school environment.
  • Openness to new instructional strategies, ideas, and methods to ensure the success of all scholars.
  • Ability to obtain Spalding Level I certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of Nelson Mandela Elementary School.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver daily whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction using data-driven practices to create meaningful learning experiences.
  • Maintain a classroom climate that encourages active engagement, enthusiasm for learning, and positive scholar interactions.
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with the full-time paraeducator assigned to the classroom.
  • Uphold high expectations for scholar behavior and maintain an organized, functional learning environment.
  • Assess and document scholars academic and social growth; maintain accurate records and prepare progress reports and report cards.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians through conferences and other methods to share progress and support a strong homeschool partnership.
  • Identify scholar needs and collaborate with colleagues and support staff to address academic, social, emotional, and health-related concerns.
  • Supervise scholars during out-of-classroom duties throughout the school day.
  • Participate actively in faculty committees, school events, and scholar activities.
