About The Position

The position is responsible for the issuance and content of deliverables, technical content of HOK documents, and coordination of disciplines including consultants. The individual will supervise all staff producing documents and is primarily responsible for the implementation of Construction Phase Services in collaboration with the Project Manager. The role requires a licensed architect who will be responsible for signing/sealing drawings and must contribute to a culture of technical excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture required.
  • 10 plus years interiors workplace experience preferred.
  • Registered Architect with current license required.
  • NCARB registration preferred.
  • Project size 30,000 SF plus.
  • LEED credential required within 12 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Deltek Vision highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Affinity Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the overall design intent of the project is incorporated into detailed documentation.
  • Monitor the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration.
  • Responsible for technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project.
  • Perform product research and assist Project Manager in writing specifications.
  • Check completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy.
  • Set the overall strategy for producing documents and identify sheets planned for each stage of work.
  • Set up project team software parameters and manage standards.
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team.
  • Communicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements.
  • Ensure construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
  • Supervise preparation of technical drawings by less senior staff.
  • Perform as team leader on certain projects.
  • Mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff.
  • Take personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
  • Develop a positive relationship of trust with client leadership.
  • Regularly communicate with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications.
  • Coordinate use and track shared electronic documentation and files with project team, clients, and consultants.
  • Assist in planning and conducting work making minor adaptations to complete working drawing sets.
  • Meet with municipal building department and other governing agency officials to coordinate approvals or variances.
  • Write reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions.
  • Provide technical support and project communications to the team as required.
  • Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings.
  • Participate in business development meetings with team leaders.

  • The reasonably expected annual salary range for this position in Washington D.C. is $90,000 to $120,000.
