About The Position

PURPOSE: Participate in an on-going and preventative maintenance program for buildings and areas assigned. Works as a team player with a common goal of providing a safe and clean environment for all persons living and working at Little City Foundation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The list of essential duties and responsibilities, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the task to be performed. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein is such duties are a logical assignment to the position. 1. Communicates all major problems to the Building Maintenance Manager. 2. Maintenance of assigned buildings including but not limited to: plumbing, carpentry, electrical repairs, lock repair, appliance repair, replacement of broken glass and screens. 3. Maintains a clean, safe and healthy working environment. 4. Participates in preventive maintenance program. 5. Turns in all appropriate paperwork required by Manager. 6. Completion of monthly building inspections and reports for assigned buildings. 7. Required to be on call on days assigned, including weekends. 8. Assists in purchasing supplies/parts as directed by Maintenance Manager. 9. Assists in training of building maintenance staff. 10. Provides input into hiring decisions. 11. Assists contractors as directed. 12. Knowledge of all emergency guidelines as noted in Disaster Plan Manual. 13. Follows the rules and regulations of governing boards as provided by the Agency. 14. Is required to perform duties in all other Facility Maintenance areas as directed by the Manger. This includes but is not limited to: Any Little City set-up, special events set-up furniture moving and snow removal. 15. Maintains annual American Heart Association certification in First Aid and CPR. 16. Successfully completes Little City Foundation required training, re-training, and any additional training as required by Little City Foundation policies and practices, or as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or GED, preferred.
  • Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance and operate listed equipment; snow blowers and snow plows.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have some experience in interior building maintenance.
  • Workable knowledge in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills.
  • Must be able to perform heavy lifting repetitively.
  • Ability to read and follow written directions and use road maps for directions along with a demonstrated ability to access driving instructions using generally accepted internet sites such as Map Quest and Yahoo.
  • Per policy, must meet Little City's insurance requirements in order to be maintained on the Approved Driver’s List.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pool/wells/septic maintenance a plus.
