What you can expect as an Interior Finish Technician at West Star: As an Interior Finish technician you will be responsible for interior finish processes, including wood finishes of assigned aircraft, varying amounts of gloss and satin applications, and sanding of hardwood as needed to apply finish. Development and completion of aircraft interior cabinet finishes are the primary functions. Job duties will vary by type and scope, as designated by the Finish Team Leader.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid drivers license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not required
  • Technician I: 0-2 years' experience in auto re-finish/collision repair or other similar trade dealing with the paint/finish processes
  • Technician II: 2-5 years' experience in wood finishing processes on aircraft
  • Technician III: 5+ years' experience in wood finishing processes on aircraft
  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment
  • Reliable transportation to get to work each and every day
  • Ability to perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties
  • Maintain customer oriented work habits

Responsibilities

  • Assist with paint and techniques for major modification projects
  • Identify colors and color matches as needed
  • Basic knowledge of stains, lacquers, clear coats, etc.
  • Basic knowledge in chemicals (thinners, catalysts, cleaners, etc.) and safety procedures
  • Basic knowledge in paints and spraying equipment
  • Knowledge of dry sanding and wet sanding, etc.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
  • Cleanliness of shop and surroundings
  • Work independently when required
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management
