About The Position

We are currently looking for an Interior Designer (LAUSD CM-ID-0126-02) for our contract with Los Angeles Unified School District. We are accepting applications for this "extended" position through 1/23 @ 9am Candidates previously submitted for LAUSD CM-ID-0725-43 can NOT be resubmitted for this extension. Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Simplex is required. This is an on-site, long term job. You must be located in Southern California. NO relocation funds, and NO per diem. Location: Los Angeles, CA Number of positions: 1 Type: Direct Hire Salary Range: $137K - $154K

Requirements

  • Minimum eight (8) years’ full-time paid professional experience conceptualizing, planning, selecting, and coordinating interior layouts, interior building finishes, furniture, and equipment
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree preferably in interior design, architecture, or related field OR Completion of 40 semester units or equivalent related to interior design from a recognized college or university and additional two (2) years’ experience to compensate for education.
  • Principles of interior design
  • Furniture and equipment specification (educational facilities preferable)
  • Principles, practices and techniques for space planning
  • Strong understanding of color theory principles and its application in Interior Design
  • Timeline and budget preparation
  • Basic concepts and application of scheduling, procurement, and business data processing
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Bluebeam
  • Building codes, ADA, fire and life code as they relate to furniture and equipment Principles, practices, and techniques of project management
  • Professional Interior Design studio practices

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a public agency or school construction or modernization is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and design interior spaces and specify furniture
  • Read and interpret architectural plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Operate major computer-aided software system such as AutoCAD and Revit
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Create and deliver professional presentations for clients and stakeholders effectively showcasing design concepts and project details
  • Work effectively with F+IG staff, facilities personnel, school administrators and staff
  • Operate a computer and associated peripheral devices
  • Commute to jobsites and facilities, as needed
