About The Position

Populous is a global design firm that specializes in creating civic, sports, and entertainment buildings, including iconic stadia, live music venues, convention centers, and transportation facilities. The firm focuses on designing places where people love to be together, crafting experiences that engage all senses. Populous offers the resources of a large design company combined with the growth opportunities typically found in smaller firms. They are seeking an Interior Designer with prior experience in the AEC industry and an interest in public assembly building types. This role involves providing design and documentation across all aspects of the interiors process, requiring strong hospitality design experience, creative design thinking, and expertise in spatial and environmental design, branding development, story creation, and graphic design. The successful candidate will manage multiple concurrent projects, interact with clients, lead presentations, and direct large consultant teams.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in the AEC industry
  • Interest in working in a dynamic global design environment with a diverse range of public assembly building types, including sports venues, convention centers, and transportation facilities
  • Strong hospitality design experience
  • Creative design thinking with expertise in spatial and environmental design, branding development, story creation, and graphic design
  • Strong conceptual design, organizational, presentation, and technical skills
  • Deep passion for design
  • Superior visual, written, and spoken communication skills to express concepts in captivating ways
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable working in demanding environments
  • Strong sketching and freehand drawing skills, with the ability to create quick sketches to convey or sell ideas effectively
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture
  • NCIDQ certification
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Experience in rendering, both computer-generated and freehand
  • Ability to travel

  • Own multiple concurrent projects with resilience to switch gears quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Interact with clients, participating in, and leading presentations, meetings, and collaborative sessions
  • Quickly earn trust, build partnerships, and direct large consultant teams
  • Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Give and take directions effectively
  • Express concepts in captivating ways using superior visual, written, and spoken communication skills
  • Create quick sketches to convey or sell ideas effectively
