We are looking for a curious mind who will bring both big questions and big ideas to the table. We are looking for an Interior Designer I to join our team in our New York Office. We are seeking a new team member who is passionate about design. Someone who can communicate clearly across all mediums: visual, verbal and written to express ideas, explain the reasoning behind those ideas, and weave a story that turns those ideas into a design vision. We want you to be a voice at our table. This person will be comfortable collaborating with team members and working independently to develop concepts, drawings and finish palettes. They will be responsible for assisting a senior designer on projects, attending meetings, and contributing to team discussions to help progress projects. Our teams are integrated and our interiors staff often participates in projects from start to finish (programming to construction administration), so in addition to design, an appetite for technical experience in construction documentation, detailing, and construction administration is a must.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture
  • 1-4 years' of experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, 3D modeling software (Sketch up, Rhino)
  • Excellent conceptual skills and understanding of interior architecture
  • Understanding of color theory and its practical application
  • Understanding of interior architectural detailing
  • Understanding of finish materials and their application

Responsibilities

  • Work with the lead interior designer in creating interior environments which serve the client’s goals and responds to their spatial needs, image and aesthetic requirements.
  • Develop code compliant designs.
  • Assist with the selection of appropriate finish materials and furnishings.
  • Assist with the development of presentation materials including 3D renderings.
  • Observe and participate in design presentations to the client.
  • Participate in the projects’ in-house design review presentations.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines.
  • Assist in the execution and enhancement of the design intent while preparing the construction documents.
  • Work with architecture and the engineering disciplines to ensure a consistent development of the project towards the design concepts established in earlier phases.
  • Assist in the development of project and furniture specifications and other technical requirements of projects.
  • Prepare finish and furniture boards and record binders.
  • Assist with submittal responses, shop drawing review and construction site visits.
  • Assist with interiors and furniture punch lists.
  • Assist market segment leaders and the marketing department in the preparation of design documents and presentation materials.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested
