The Interior Design Coordinator role at Stantec is an entry-level position designed for individuals to support the interior design team while collaborating with the architectural team. The role involves conceptualizing, developing, and documenting various aspects of interior design projects, ensuring that design intent is maintained throughout the process. The position offers an opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced designers and participate in a range of design-related tasks.

  • Supports interior design teams in the development of design documentation.
  • Participates in the development of interior design in accordance with cost parameters and ensures interior design intent is maintained through documentation and construction.
  • Develops the interior design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats to express the design intent and coordinate with Project Designer.
  • Utilizes BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of interiors and their components.
  • Participates in design critiques and pin-ups.
  • Assists in the validation that design complies with building codes, ADA guidelines and LEED per project type and requirements.
  • Assists in the selections of interior systems and materials, finishes and fixtures.
  • Participates in the completion of FFE scope tasks from design and selection through bid, coordinating with specific client and project needs.
  • Participates in the completion of signage coordination scope tasks from design and selection through bid, coordinating with specific client and project needs.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the profession and the firm by participating in a professional organization.
  • Performs Construction Administration tasks to support the scope of work.
  • Basic knowledge and application of accessibility codes and applicable building codes.
  • Basic understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to conduct space planning, block planning, and adjacencies in coordination with building program.
  • Ability to develop floor plans, elevations, and details.
  • Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of document production.
  • Ability to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • To hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
  • To communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written).
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Prefer experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, Newforma, Bluebeam.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
