About The Position

Ute Pass Regional Health Service District is seeking qualified internal candidates for the position of Interim Paramedic Captain . This temporary leadership assignment is intended to provide operational continuity, leadership presence, and stability during a defined transition period. This role is designed for experienced Paramedics who are ready to step into a lead operational role while functioning within clearly defined interim parameters and supported escalation pathways. In addition to fulfilling all duties of the Paramedic role, the Interim Paramedic Captain serves as the lead operational authority on assigned shifts, responsible for maintaining safe, effective, and compliant day-to-day operations within the scope of the interim appointment. This position provides leadership responsibility without the expectation of independently assuming the full scope, long-term responsibilities, or strategic accountabilities of a permanent Paramedic Captain. Proactive communication, consultation, and escalation are expected and supported.

Requirements

• Current Paramedic in good standing
• Demonstrated professionalism and cultural alignment
• No active corrective action within the past year
• Demonstrated leadership capability or readiness

Nice To Haves

• Prior Lieutenant or interim leadership experience
• Committee, project, or administrative leadership involvement
• Formal leadership education or training

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily shift operations, staffing, and system readiness
• Address short-term scheduling needs and operational issues
• Serve as a clinical and operational role model
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and informal performance feedback
• Support Field Training Officers and onboarding processes
• Communicate operational updates to senior leadership
• Identify concerns and escalate appropriately
