Kala Springs serves adults with developmental disabilities receiving crisis intervention services. The position involves ensuring the provision of the type of care and supervision needed by residents, including communication with such residents. Responsibilities include supervising Community Crisis Home Staff, assisting residents with prescribed medications, following health and emergency procedures, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The role also requires maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and effective communication with individuals supported.

  • Ensure provision of the type of care and supervision needed by residents.
  • Supervise Community Crisis Home Staff to carry out the facility's program design.
  • Assist residents with prescribed medications, if applicable.
  • Follow health and emergency procedures, including fire safety.
  • Identify and report Special Incidents and consumer abuse.
  • Follow residents' Individual Program Plans (IPPs) and ensure residents' rights.
  • Exercise knowledge of and ensure facility and employee compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Direct the work of others, when applicable.
  • Meet statutory qualifications and company policy qualifications including all continuing education requirements.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality regarding individuals supported and employees.
  • Utilize Universal precautions at all times while on duty.
  • Report to work on time and as defined by the schedule consistently.
  • Notify and obtain approval from supervisor for any changes in schedule.
  • Maintain professionalism including appearance at all times while working.
  • Communicate and explain all information and procedures with the individual(s) supported.
  • Provide input regarding individual's progress and needs, and actively participate in their IPP meeting.
  • Assist and/or participate in the administration of prescribed oral medications and medical equipment.
  • Accurately complete Medication Assistance Records (MAR) as required.
  • Assist individuals with transfers in and out of various locations.
  • Attend medical appointments as directed by supervisor and communicate information accurately.
  • Provide intervention and support during crisis situations using CPI and Ukeru principles.
  • Ensure that residents are with a responsible Community Crisis Home employee at all times.
  • Report workplace safety issues and other concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Report any work-related injury or illness to Supervisor and Human Resources Director immediately.
  • Follow duties as assigned regarding cleaning and general house chores.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a positive work environment.
  • Follow agency's internal grievance policy.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings, and other meetings as requested.
  • Use feedback to improve performance.
  • Practice good problem solving skills and the ability to make decisions in the absence of a policy.
  • Communicate pertinent information to individuals.
  • Assist in development of behavior plans by providing accurate information.
  • Participate in individuals' assessments as requested.
  • Provide information for ISP reports as needed.
  • Follow Community Crisis Home activity schedule.
  • Administer CPR and/or First Aid as needed.
  • Request any needed equipment to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Respond to communication in a timely manner.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Direct Support Professional (DSP) 1 and 2, 35-hour competency based training course and pass on the competency test within one year of start date.
  • Knowledge of the requirements for providing care and supervision needed by clients.
  • Ability to maintain or supervise the maintenance of financial and other records.
  • Ability to read and write in the English language.
  • Possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Successful completion of the on-site orientation process.
  • Successful completion of a minimum of 25 hours of continuing education within each twelve-month period.
  • 6 months of Supervisory experience required.
  • High School Diploma or the equivalent.
  • A minimum of one-year prior experience implementing ABA with individuals with developmental disabilities.
