About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Interim HR Manager to provide hands-on Human Resources leadership during a maternity leave coverage period. This is a 6–8 month contract role beginning in February, with no possibility of conversion to permanent employment. The Interim HR Manager will oversee day-to-day HR operations, support leaders and employees, ensure compliance, and maintain continuity across all core HR functions. This role requires someone who can step in quickly, operate independently, and provide steady, practical HR leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Prior experience in an HR Manager or Senior HR Generalist role strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting employee relations and leave administration
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal ramp-up
  • Strong communication, organization, and judgment skills
  • Comfortable stepping into an interim/backfill environment

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and leadership
  • Manage day-to-day HR activities including employee relations, policy interpretation, and HR guidance
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, leave, policies, and workplace concerns
  • Support performance management processes and employee documentation
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Manage employee relations matters, investigations, and corrective action processes
  • Maintain accurate personnel files and HR documentation
  • Partner with legal counsel or external vendors as needed
  • Oversee leave administration including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and other statutory leaves
  • Coordinate benefits administration and vendor communication
  • Support open enrollment activities if applicable during the contract period
  • Support recruiting coordination as needed (job postings, interview scheduling, offers)
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Partner with managers on workforce planning and staffing needs
  • Maintain HRIS data accuracy and reporting
  • Track key HR metrics and provide updates to leadership
  • Ensure smooth handoff documentation for the returning HR leader
