Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, BSN preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years clinical experience in ICU as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Minimum three years' experience acute care nursing leadership in ICU/Critical Care required.
  • Current license to practice professional nursing (RN) in the State of California.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Specialty Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate delivery of patient care with 24 hour responsibility for total management of the ICU Department.
  • Provide administrative direction for development and evaluation of all nursing personnel.
  • Maintain operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with support services.
  • Contribute to nursing and the hospital through support of philosophy and objectives, educational and research efforts.
  • Accountable to assure that HCAPS, patient, employee, and physicians satisfaction scores are all in acceptable ranges.
  • Accountable for building and directing teams to improve core measures and other Joint Commission initiatives.
  • Engage in ongoing dialogue with nurses both one on one and in monthly staff and clinical unit meetings.
  • Proactively identify needs of staff and resolve issues to improve patient care and support nursing leadership direction.
  • React positively to assure new initiatives and practices are followed consistently without bias.
