About The Position

Northeast Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury, is looking for an Interim Facility Shift Supervisor. You will oversee daily operations and staff during their assigned shift, ensuring the safety and security of the public, staff and inmates by enforcing policies, conducting inspections, managing inmate movements and counts, resolving conflicts, and responding to emergencies . This role requires strong leadership, decision-making skills, and the ability to manage high-stress situations effectively. High stress situations are predictable, even frequent. The potential for physical assault or injury is present. Transportation and supervision of inmates outside of the correctional facility may be required. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required. Overtime and emergency duty are predictable. Shift assignments may change in accordance with the needs of the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher AND two (2) or more years of work experience INCLUDING one (1) year in a correctional institution involving the custody of inmates.
  • Associates degree AND four (4) or more years of work experience INCLUDING three (3) years in a correctional institution involving the custody of inmates.
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND five (5) or more years of work experience, INCLUDING three (3) years in a correctional institution involving the custody of inmates.
  • Four (4) or more years of military experience AND one (1) or more years in a correctional system involving the custody of inmates.
  • Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
  • Candidates who have any felony conviction record or who, within the past five (5) years, have been placed under supervision or sanctioned for a misdemeanor conviction must receive a waiver from the Commissioner of Corrections in order to be considered for employment.

  • Supervisory experience in direct client contact in a residential facility or law enforcement.

Responsibilities
