About The Position

The Interface Manager at Fluor is responsible for providing overall engineering execution leadership on medium-sized projects or specific areas of larger projects. This role involves managing the engineering team’s performance, ensuring successful execution of engineering work, and developing and implementing execution strategies. The Interface Manager also oversees engineering budgets, schedules, and quality, while promoting a culture of open communication and collaboration across various project disciplines.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in engineering management on medium to large projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering disciplines and their work processes.
  • Ability to manage project schedules and budgets effectively.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to foster a positive project culture.
  • Experience in developing project execution strategies and scope documents.
  • Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall engineering execution leadership on medium-sized projects or specific areas of larger projects.
  • Manage the interfaces between engineering disciplines and identify critical activities for execution strategy.
  • Set a positive project culture in conjunction with the Project Manager and Project Director.
  • Lead the development of project Scope of Services and other baseline documents.
  • Support the development of the Project Execution Strategy for engineering functions.
  • Lead engineering schedule planning sessions to capture inter-dependencies and milestone dates.
  • Own the project engineering schedule and ensure correct engineering sequence is maintained.
  • Champion and support engineering through project execution by fostering open communication.
  • Manage the interface between Engineering and other project disciplines.
  • Verify engineering work is completed on schedule and meets quality standards.
  • Act as a focal point for resolution of interdisciplinary and technical issues.
  • Translate global strategic initiatives into project-specific procedures.
  • Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques for effective project solutions.
  • Engage Fluor's global community and promote a OneFluor mindset.
  • Lead/support project set-up and alignment efforts for engineering.
  • Implement progress measuring tools and develop activities for engineering support.
  • Ensure the engineering team has access to project baseline documents and executes accordingly.
  • Promote and coordinate the engineering Distributed Execution effort.
  • Review schedule status and progress performance with Discipline Leads regularly.
  • Lead/support estimates, schedules, and progress reports.
  • Champion implementation of Fluor systems and tools with clients.
  • Track and monitor material key quantities and provide forecasts.
  • Verify internal alignment of engineering discipline leads and their interactions.
  • Publish Project specific Job Bulletins for consistent work processes.
  • Incorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in design.
  • Prepare/review/approve scopes of work for third-party contracts.
  • Implement Change Management procedures for engineering functions.
  • Plan and conduct required design reviews in support of project schedule.
  • Execute project work in accordance with approved Activity Plans and procedures.
  • Verify compliance of technical work with industry codes and standards.
  • Implement/support the Technical Control Plan and verify quality of engineering execution.
  • Direct and oversee audits prepared by Engineering Management and Discipline Engineering Departments.
