About The Position

Sol Systems is an independent power producer committed to building and operating clean energy infrastructure that benefits communities for the long term. We develop, finance, and own solar and storage projects across the United States and partner with utilities, corporations, and local organizations to deliver responsible energy solutions.
Sol Systems is seeking a Interconnection Intern to support the Utility Scale Development team. The intern will gain an understanding of the clean energy project development lifecycle, including utility-scale generation and load interconnection procedures, wholesale electricity markets in the United States, and power market forecasting.

Requirements

• This role is open to current rising undergraduate seniors and graduate students
• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Data Engineering, or related fields
• Experience with data engineering and python programming required
• Interest in renewable energy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of electric energy grid systems, transmission planning, and power markets preferred

Responsibilities

• Support power grid modeling efforts including generation, large loads, and transmission modeling using power system software and python automation
• Assist with wholesale energy market modeling using AI-based approaches
• Support greenfield efforts by identifying project constraints using GIS tools
