The purpose of this position is to provide high-quality, appropriate, and cost-effective critical care to patients in the Cardiac ICU, with a primary focus on post–cardiac surgery and complex cardiovascular disease. This role offers a daytime-only schedule within a highly collaborative and well-supported care model. About the Cardiac ICU 22-bed Cardiac-Neuro ICU (separate Neuro-ICU service) Average daily census: 12–14 patients Primary patient population includes: Post–open heart cardiac surgery patients Acute coronary syndromes, including STEMI Post-cardiac procedural patients Advanced heart failure Electrophysiology-related admissions Other complex cardiovascular disease states The Cardiac ICU is co-located with a Neuro ICU that is staffed and managed by a separate dedicated Neuro ICU team Staffing & Coverage Model Daytime coverage: In-house cardiac intensivist Dedicated APC support Monday–Friday 7a-5p Nighttime coverage: In-house APC coverage for 12-hour night shifts Overnight medical intensivist available for new admissions and acute medical concerns Cardiac intensivist available by phone as backup support as needed This structure provides strong overnight coverage while preserving a daytime-only intensivist role
