About The Position

The Intensive Outpatient Program Therapist performs social service functions to include assisting clients in meeting their bio-psycho-social needs while enabling them to access through therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of emotional health, including providing basic consultation, teaching, and specialized clinical social services for patients/families receiving care. The clinical social services provided includes crisis intervention, short-term family therapy, group therapy and discharge planning. The Program Therapist serves as an integral member of the treatment team and is also responsible for case management of patients internal/ external support systems.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a mental health/human services field from an accredited college (counseling, social work, psychology) required.
  • Two (2) years experience desired, preferably in a behavioral health care facility.
  • Direct experience in individual, family and group therapies, crisis intervention and treatment.
  • Experience working with the child/adolescent population.
  • LCSW/LCPC preferred.
  • Certification as alcohol or other drug abuse counselor preferred.
  • Successful completion of CPR certification and current patient aggression management training within 90 days of employment.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills focused on the child/adolescent population.
  • Knowledge of information referral and community resources relating to patient care.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • DHS/DCFS background/knowledge.
