Pace’s Intelligent Transportation Systems Program includes design, development, and deployment of non- proprietary in-house developed Transit Signal Priority (TSP), Q-Jump solutions that use an integrated system-to-system approach to provide advantages to Pace Buses in general traffic by providing extra green time when they are running behind schedule. The ITS Intern will support Pace’s ITS Program by evaluating ITS Systems, Equipment inventory and data. The aim of this evaluation is to enhance and support the efficiency of existing ITS systems and conduct systems evaluation of newer systems including data exchange from Pace ITS Systems to IDOT Traffic Management Center (C2C). The Intern will learn ITS systems evaluation analytical skills including data-driven decision-making for Design, Deployment, Testing and Maintenance of Pace Intelligent Transportation systems. Their achievements will include providing data to Pace’s ITS team to maintain the status of Good Repair and acceptance of newly deployed ITS Systems. The Intern will have an opportunity to interact with various regional and federal stakeholders, Engineers responsible for ITS products and platform development and integration of critical infrastructure in the region.
