ROLE CHARTER Mission Design, build, and enable intelligent automation solutions across HCHB—beginning with Tech Enabled Services (TES)—by combining process intelligence, data engineering, and modern automation techniques to improve scalability, efficiency, and decision-making, and to establish the foundation for AI-enabled operations. The IA Engineer I role builds the foundation for HCHB’s transition from legacy automation to scalable, intelligent automation aligned to corporate strategy. The Intelligent Automation Engineer I role provides early-career engineering capacity to: Translate business processes into scalable, automatable solutions Structure, validate, and integrate data that powers automation and analytics Build, support, and evolve automation and insight solutions across TES and Finance Support the organization’s progression toward AI-augmented workflows and decision intelligence Scope & Allocation ~60% TES / RCS (Initial Focus) Process understanding, workflow automation, and delivery of automation and analytics solutions that improve TES operations and scalability ~40% Finance & Broader Organization (Expanding Scope) Data engineering, KPI automation, dashboards, and support of cross-functional strategic initiatives as intelligent automation capabilities mature Measures of Success (First 12 Months) Delivery of production-quality automation and analytics solutions that reduce manual effort Improved cycle time, accuracy, or scalability within TES and Finance workflows Reliable operational and financial metrics enabling dashboards and decision support Documented automation patterns, data definitions, and reusable components Demonstrated readiness to own more complex intelligent automation initiatives with broader enterprise impact JOB DESCRIPTION Role Summary The Intelligent Automation Engineer I supports the design, development, and delivery of automation and analytics solutions that improve operational efficiency, scalability, and decision-making. The role will initially partner with Tech Enabled Services (TES) and Finance to deliver near-term automation and data-driven outcomes, while building the foundation for broader enterprise intelligent automation initiatives aligned to corporate strategy. This role reflects HCHB’s transition from task-based robotic automation toward data-driven, system-integrated, and AI-enabled intelligent automation . This role is designed for an early-career engineer with strong technical fundamentals who is interested in the evolution from task-based automation toward data-driven, AI-enabled intelligent automation across the organization. The role includes structured mentorship and hands-on guidance from senior engineering staff. Initial Focus (Year 1) Partner with Tech Enabled Services (TES) to understand and improve core operational workflows Collaborate with Finance / FP&A to enable reliable data, metrics, and reporting that support operational and strategic decisions Support the transition from legacy RPA-style automation toward more flexible, intelligent automation approaches Future Scope (Growth Path) Over time, this role will expand to: Support enterprise-wide strategic initiatives that benefit from automation, analytics, and decision intelligence Contribute to cross-functional modernization efforts beyond TES, including Finance, Product, Operations, and Corporate initiatives Help shape HCHB’s intelligent automation strategy as the organization adopts AI-enabled workflows

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • 0–2 years of experience in software development, automation, analytics, or QA
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language used for automation or data engineering (e.g., Python, C#, Java, or similar )
  • Familiarity with data querying and transformation tools (e.g., SQL , scripting, APIs)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate complex business and operational requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience working with workflows, data pipelines, or automation logic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document technical and functional solutions
  • Comfort collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (Operations, Finance, Engineering)
  • HCHB requires all applicants to be US citizens or have a green card allowing them to work in the US without being subject to export control restrictions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automation tools or workflow platforms (RPA, orchestration, or integration tools)
  • Familiarity with data analysis libraries (Pandas, NumPy)
  • Exposure to dashboards, BI tools, or reporting frameworks
  • Interest in AI/ML concepts (e.g., forecasting, classification, anomaly detection, NLP)
  • Agile or sprint-based delivery experience
  • Note : Prior experience with RPA tools is helpful but not required. The role is designed to support the evolution beyond traditional RPA into broader intelligent automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and support automation and analytics solutions that reduce manual work and improve scalability
  • Translate business requirements into maintainable technical solutions using scripting, workflow orchestration, and data integration
  • Support and enhance existing automation assets while helping guide the transition away from task-based RPA toward intelligent automation
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve production automation and analytics solutions
  • Extract, clean, and structure operational and financial data using Python, SQL, and related tools
  • Automate data transformations, KPI calculations, and recurring analyses
  • Support dashboards, reporting, and data-driven decision support for TES and Finance
  • Improve data quality, validation, and reliability as inputs to automation and analytics
  • Partner with TES and Finance stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, and strategic objectives
  • Document processes and system interactions with an automation-first perspective
  • Identify opportunities where automation, analytics, or AI can drive measurable business impact
  • Collaborate with engineering, data, and product teams as initiatives scale across the enterprise
  • Develop foundational skills in intelligent automation, analytics engineering, and AI concepts
  • Contribute to automation standards, documentation, and best practices
  • Stay current on emerging automation and AI technologies and apply learnings where appropriate
