About The Position

Patreon is a media and community platform where creators give their biggest fans access to exclusive work and experiences. Over 300k creators are cultivating fandoms and building their businesses each month. Creators can offer free memberships to fans looking to explore more of their work, paid memberships to give access to exclusive media and community, or sell directly to fans with Shops. Ultimately our goal is simple: fund the creative class. And we're leaders in that space, with: 8B+ earned since Patreon's inception, 30M free new memberships in the first year of launching that option, and 10M fans paying each month for exclusive access to creators' work and community. We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator products with the best team in the creator economy and are looking for an Intelligence & Investigations Analyst to support our mission. This role is available to those wishing to work in our San Francisco and New York offices on a hybrid work model or those wishing to be remote in the United States.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in investigations, intelligence, trust & safety, or a related field.
• Strong background in OSINT techniques and complex investigations.
• Experience analyzing abuse patterns and threat actor methodologies in digital environments.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools and SQL for investigative purposes.
• Ability to transform complex findings into clear, actionable intelligence reports.
• Experience working in fast-paced environments requiring rapid incident response.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively share insights with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
• Ability to handle exposure to potentially sensitive, graphic, or controversial content.
• Self-motivated approach with strong problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with UGC platforms, payments integrity, or creator economy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Proactive Investigations: Research potential platform risks through investigation and data analysis, providing recommendations for preventative measures.
• Identify Emerging Threats: Monitor digital landscapes to detect new and evolving threat methodologies targeting creator platforms.
• Investigate Sophisticated Abuse: Conduct in-depth investigations into complex abuse patterns and bad actor techniques, developing comprehensive profiles of their methodologies.
• Support Incident Management: Help triage and respond to critical platform incidents, documenting patterns to inform future prevent strategies.
• Track Off-Platform Threats: Monitor and research external bad actors who may pose risks to Patreon's platform and creators.
• Develop Intelligence Products: Create clear, actionable insights from investigations to share with key stakeholders across the organization.
• Analyze Complex Abuse Patterns: Identify subtle and evolving patterns of platform manipulation through multi-dimensional analysis.
• Contribute to Detection Improvements: Provide detailed recommendations for enhancing platform protection capabilities based on investigative findings.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, and Fraud teams to implement sophisticated threat mitigation strategies.
