About The Position

Peraton is seeking an Intelligence Data Analyst to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) by transforming complex data into actionable intelligence that informs strategic and operational decision-making. This role supports the CBP analytics and intelligence program in a high-security environment and requires strong analytical thinking, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The ideal candidate has strong SQL and business intelligence experience and is skilled at identifying trends, assessing risks, and delivering insights that support mission outcomes. Support will be provided acrosss multiple locations: Ashburn, VA Sterling, VA Washington, D.C.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years with BS/BA. 9 years with a HS diploma/equivalent can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or related analytical roles.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases.
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent).
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Python or R for analytical tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, solve problems systematically, and deliver accurate, high-quality analytical outputs in high-stakes environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to brief senior stakeholders.
  • Active Top Secret clearance required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required CBP BI suitability.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and performance metrics development.
  • Familiarity with big data environments (Spark, Hadoop) and ETL processes.
  • Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Desktop Specialist, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting DHS, CBP, or other federal agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Preparation
  • Collect, aggregate, and cleanse structured and unstructured data from databases, systems, APIs, and other authorized sources.
  • Validate data accuracy and integrity through quality checks and documentation.
  • Transform and prepare datasets for analysis and reporting.
  • Analysis & Insight Generation
  • Conduct trend, statistical, and diagnostic analyses to identify patterns, anomalies, and operational risks.
  • Apply analytical models to support forecasting, performance measurement, and mission decision-making.
  • Translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Reporting & Visualization
  • Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar tools.
  • Create visualizations and briefings that communicate insights to leadership and operational teams.
  • Automate recurring reports and analytics workflows where possible.
  • Collaboration & Mission Support
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver tailored analytics solutions.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and other analysts to ensure data accessibility and usability.
  • Support ad-hoc analytical requests in a dynamic operational environment.
