As a Summer Intern, reporting to the Vice President of Intellectual Property, the role involves gaining exposure to patent work within a corporation that develops research tools for cellular analysis.

Requirements

MS or PhD student in a biology-related field.
Able to commit to a 10-12 week program during Summer 2026.
Interest in patent law and either planning to attend law school or currently attending law school.
Self-motivated with ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

Experience in one or more of the following is a plus - cellular imaging, CRISPR editing and/or screening, machine learning, and transcriptomics.

Responsibilities

Contribute to drafting patent applications that cover commercially relevant technologies.
Assist Intellectual Property group in assessing 3rd party patents (freedom-to-operate/landscape).
Work with R&D scientists to gather technical details for patent applications.
Collaborate with patent agents and paralegals to learn about legal processes.
