About The Position

The position is focused on managing the patent portfolio and ensuring the protection of intellectual property (IP) within the organization. This includes assessing internal invention disclosures, determining filing priorities based on business goals, and working with patent attorneys to submit patent applications. The role also involves examining existing patents, investigating infringements, and managing IP policies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Additionally, the position requires reviewing and negotiating IP agreements, conducting training programs for employees, assisting with IP litigation, and collaborating with internal teams on product development and marketing initiatives.

Requirements

• Technical understanding of photonics: Preferably a background in integrated optics, free space optics, signal processing.
• Experience in patent law: Knowledge of patent law and other forms of IP protection.

Responsibilities

• Patent portfolio management: Technical and commercial assessment of internal invention disclosures, determining filing priorities based on business goals, and submission of patent applications working with patent attorneys.
• IP protection: Examine existing patents and protections, and investigate infringements.
• IP policy management: Expand and update IP policies, and ensure compliance with IP laws and regulations.
• IP agreement management: Review and negotiate IP agreements, including licensing, assignments, and non-disclosure agreements.
• IP training: Conduct IP training and awareness programs for employees; encourage the submission of disclosures.
• IP litigation: Assist with the management of IP litigation and dispute resolution.
• IP collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams on product development, marketing, and branding.
