About The Position

The GIS Intellectual Property & Distribution Department, charged with distributing API’s vast catalog of oil and gas technical standards, has launched its Academic Initiative, which seeks to attract interest in the oil and natural gas industry. This initiative provides internships and makes API’s best-in-class standards freely accessible to students at participating universities and colleges. Projects and Tasks Fulfill tasks set out by supervisors from several departments Attend meetings and take minutes Perform research at a supervisor's request Perform clerical duties, take memos, maintain files, and organize documents; photocopy, fax, etc. as needed Assist in preparing information and research materials; create and maintain PowerPoint presentations Manage databases and input information, data, and records Research and gather documentation on company position in the industry Set up, break down, organize, and maintain conference rooms, training rooms, and meeting rooms; update company calendars Attend company functions and networking events

Requirements

  • The intern must be enrolled in secondary school, preferably participating in API’s Academic Initiative and majoring in an engineering or business degree
  • Basic knowledge of the oil, gas, and petroleum industries
  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to exercise experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Familiarity with database technology and MS Office applications required
  • Proficient with the English language
  • Eager to learn and work with various departments in the company
  • High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program to receive credit
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc.
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 25 lbs. on occasion
  • Up to 25% Travel
