About The Position

Persistent is looking for an Engineer to join its Unmanned Systems Integration Engineering team. This team provides end-to-end integration support for crewed aviation, uncrewed aerial/surface/ground systems (UXS), and munition customers. As part of our UxS Integration Engineering team, you will support and facilitate system integration of Persistent products, test planning and execution, network design, RF mapping, report generation and delivery, and responses to RFIs and RFPs pertain to UxS. You will play a pivotal role in communicating technical challenges and new requirements to our engineering department as you strive to solve problems. This role requires excellent communication skills as you will be required to work across the entire Persistent Systems team including Sales, Field Operations, Program Management, Engineering, and Quality to provide customer solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or uncrewed systems
  • 3+ years of experience with UAS and/or UGV systems
  • Proficiency in unmanned system data link technology such as wireless communications, IP routing, antennas, and/or RF propagation
  • Understanding of product development and systems architecture design
  • Proficiency in programming in Python, C, and/or C++
  • Proficiency in advanced technical software packages such as Wireshark and/or MATLAB
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis
  • Experience working directly with product development teams, both industry and government customers, end users
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbal
  • Must be available to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering
  • 5+ years of experience with Uncrewed Aerial Systems
  • Net+, Sec+, CCNA, or CWNA certifications
  • Experience with wireless concepts such as MANET, Mesh, Ad-hoc, protocols and web architecture, with an understanding of hardware and software concepts
  • DoD Information Operations and Cyber Security experience
  • Current Secret US Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Build customer relationships with program clients through managing and interpreting their requirements and conveying progress to the Management team
  • Communicating Persistent Systems' solutions to technical and non-technical clients and end-users for UAS and/or UGV applications
  • Contributing to program effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-term issues; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; and recommending options and courses of action
  • Developing test plans and methodologies followed by final reports and summaries for internal and external customers
  • Troubleshooting customers’ communication systems and collaborating with the Sales, Engineering, and Field Operations teams to resolve technical issues
  • Developing technical portions of responses to RFI / RFP and other similar customer requests
  • Maintaining expert knowledge of Persistent Systems products to evaluate and maintain program objectives
  • Working closely with Product Development Department by providing feedback from information gathered during integration and testing projects
  • Work directly with Persistent’s MANET equipment in applications ranging from ground-based to airborne to subterranean in support of customers including Defense, Federal, other military / law enforcement, and commercial organizations
