The Integration Automation Specialist plays a key role in keeping APS’s Energy Management System reliable and responsive. By installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing the equipment that collects real‑time data from APS and interconnected utilities, this role ensures operators have the accurate information needed to safely manage distribution, transmission, and generation.

Requirements

  • Experience installing, maintaining, or repairing electrical or electronic equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work safely with technical systems.
  • Detail‑oriented, with a focus on accuracy and reliable system performance.
  • A collaborative team member who communicates well across operations and technical groups.
  • Someone motivated by supporting safe, reliable energy delivery for APS customers and communities.
  • Equivalent to a high school diploma and five (5) years experience troubleshooting and repairing metering and control systems.
  • Ability to work on all types of supervisory equipment used by APS.
  • Understand the functionality of control schematics.
  • Ability to travel statewide, work outdoors, and work overtime.
  • Demonstrated experience in substation design concepts/practices relating to substation control.
  • A thorough understanding of protection, metering, and control concepts.
  • The ability to apply and solve mathematical formulas using algebra and trigonometry.
  • Familiarity with electronic circuit fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated personal computer skills including working knowledge of both hardware fundamentals and software applications.
  • This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under the Department of Energys Part 810 Regulations (10 CFR Part 810), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730 through 774), or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter M Part 120 ) (collectively, U.S. Export Control Laws).Therefore, this position requires applicants to be a U.S. person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), a Political Asylee, or a Refugee under the U.S. Export Control Laws. Responsibilities

  • Install and configure energy management system equipment that enables automated data collection across APS’s electrical network.
  • Test and verify equipment performance to ensure accurate, real‑time data is available for system operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues to maintain continuous visibility and support safe grid management.
  • Partner with operations teams and other departments to support reliable monitoring of system performance.
  • Help maintain the integrity of systems that keep APS’s distribution, transmission, and generation operations running smoothly.
  • Perform and/orcoordinate with P&C techs, Journeyman, and others in the installation, shakedown, and testing or RTUs, meters, and other instrumentation to ensure safe and reliable operation
  • Design or assist in the design of RTU's, substation meters, and other instrumentation installations.
  • Investigate, analyze, and correct SCADA, communication, metering, and other instrumentation failures and misoperations.
  • Perform repair on RTU equipment and other instrumentation
  • Perform acceptance testing and field configuration of RTU's, communication processors, microprocessor based protective relays, and other instrumentation.
  • Develop new SCADA applications for new RTU's and Intelligent Electronic Devices. Specify and order PMAC related equipment to support Construction and Maintenance. Configure RTU's in Distribution Automation projects to improve overall system efficiency.
